Es diputado al Parlamento Europeo por el partido Vox desde 2019, integrado en los Conservadores y Reformistas Europeos (ECR). Su padre fue un diplomático nazi en la España franquista.

Nacido en Madrid el 9 de abril de 1958,[1] es hijo de Ekkehard Tertsch [es] (1906-1989), diplomático y periodista nazi austro-alemán que fue un estrecho colaborador de Josef Hans Lazar [es], también diplomático y periodista austriaco y principal propagandista nazi en España, en Madrid durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. [Por su madre Felisa del Valle-Lersundi es primo de Loyola de Palacio y Ana de Palacio[3]. En su juventud militó en el Partido Comunista del País Vasco[4].

Abandonó El País en 2007, convirtiéndose poco después en articulista de opinión política en el diario conservador ABC[7]. También fue contratado por Telemadrid, y se convirtió en el presentador de la madrugada de Diario de la noche [es] en 2008, en sustitución de Fernando Sánchez Dragó.
