Lee Newman has held various dean positions at IE University for over a decade. He founded and built HST, which has been the fastest growing among our schools and an innovator in preparing its students for the many exciting careers in the new economy. In this role, the president noted, «he has demonstrated an amazing ability to build and lead teams, a relentless innovative spirit and a strong strategic vision.»
Lee’s academic credentials span a variety of key areas for the future of our business school: a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in Cognitive Psychology and Computer Science, an MBA and M.S. in Technology and Policy from MIT, and a B.S. in Engineering from Brown University.
Lee also brings relevant professional experience to this new role, which includes serving as an engagement manager at McKinsey in Chicago and as the founder of two successful technology start-ups in New York City.

Among the most significant novelties of this new academic year at IE University is the creation of the School of Human Sciences and Technology, «an innovative venture that will include fields of study in communication, behavioral sciences, big data and positive psychology, among others». Its dean is Professor Lee Newman, a graduate of Brown University, with a PhD from the University of Michigan and an MBA from MIT. Newman is an expert in leadership and behavioral sciences; he is also an entrepreneur and has held management positions in important international companies, such as the McKinsey & Company consultancy.

A journalist specializing in technology, science and innovation, she is the editorial coordinator and editor of the Environment + Energy section. She has worked at Agencia Sinc and Hoja de Router and published in media such as El Mundo, El Confidencial and Muy Interesante. She currently collaborates with some of the above and others such as Forbes and TecnoXplora. She has a degree in Environmental Sciences and a Master’s Degree in Journalism and Communication of Science, Technology, Environment and Health from the UC3M.
A science journalist with a degree in Biology, he is editor of the Science+Technology section. He has worked in El Confidencial and currently collaborates in Sinc and El Diario. He has also published in media such as Muy Interesante, Jot Down and Xataka. Master’s degree in scientific, medical and environmental communication from UPF. Prisma Award for the best popular science journalistic article. José Carlos Pérez Cobo Award for critical journalism.
Born in Malaga, she is a science journalist. She is editor of the Health and Medicine section. She has worked for El País, MUY Interesante, El Mundo, Tercer Milenio, the McGraw-Hill publishing house and La Sexta, obtaining awards such as the Boehringer Ingelheim Prize for journalism in medicine or the Prisma de la Casa de la Casa de la Salud.
